Jen is going to hate me for this but...
What are people watching on tv these days?
My favourite show is definitely Lost - it's not for everyone, but I enjoy the intricate plotlines, and sometimes there is amazing dialogue. My favourite new show is probably Heroes (anyone notice the many similarities to X-men?) for the same reasons.

Battlestar Galactica is far and away my favorite show. Veronica Mars is a suprisingly unknown show. It's really good (actually, the current season is 3 and the first 2 seem a lot better so far). The quality of the writing is on-par with Firefly. I'm nearly done watching Arrested Development. It's fantastic and it's too bad Fox killed it

Oh fox, and your ability to kill great shows.
Seriously, I think they fancy themselves fortune tellers, and when their predictions of what's going to be popular go wrong, the refuse to change their minds!
Mystic Fox Guy: Ooooo, I foresee the ratings dropping for this show! Guy who decides stuff: Ok! Lets move it to a cheaper time slot! People: But we love that show! But but but, we can't figure out when its on! Guy who decides stuff: Then I guess you didn't love it that much! CANCELED!

well hell if u believe farenheit 911 FOX not only got bush into office ( I mean really, goin down in history as the biggest leadership blunder of the union), but hey after 1 and 1/2 terms in office they still won't admit how rediculous a mistake it was. I don't know about life being stranger than fiction (unless its Poe, cause he was one seriously f***ed up puppy) but it sure as hell scares me a whole lot more than fiction.
P.S. Gots to go with Battlestar and Stargate (either one Atlantis or SG-1, it's a guilty pleasure i know but its so easy and entertaining to watch). Note: I can't bring myself to watch these on tv the advertising drives me crazy, the torrents are the only way to go!

Note: I can't bring myself to watch these on tv the advertising drives me crazy, the torrents are the only way to go! I don't have enough faith in FOX's ability to fix time slots, let alone fix elections heh. I should watch that tho for a laugh. Man Stargate is great. I actually read the book before I even knew it was a movie/tv show, and loved Danial then. He's like the ultimate hero to a bookworm! "Come! Be our friends and share in the learning of things! We are all peaceful intellegent humanoid creatures!" *Danial gets his ass kicked* "uuuh, I didn't see that coming". Teehee. Ok, enough ragging on Danial. I do prefer watching things on tv, even with ads, because divx can be glitchy, and you don't have the fun of knowing that at exactly :57 CSI is going to have a twist that "noone" was expecting. I forget what the time for House was that it happens. Slightly off topic (but on the topic of predicting): www.jamesrobertford.com/works/the_bond_formula/box_whiskers.htm

I don't watch a lot of TV. Before the family got digital cable, I pretty much only watched Discovery Channel and Teletoon, with the occasional pop onto Space or Spike for Star Trek. So mostly it was How It's Made, Mythbusters, Daily Planet, and various cartoons, mostly on The Detour, with an emphasis on Futurama.
(In that vein, my girlfriend has every episode of Futurama on DVD; a Futurama-thon is a viable event option. Just to point that out.)
Now, with digital cable, I also mix in a lot of Animal Planet (I work at a pet store, what do you expect?) and National Geographic - various vet shows, Growing Up... <insert animal here>, and safari stuff on the former, and anything interesting on the latter.
Is it wrong that 70% of the stuff I watch involves learning, particularly things completely out of my chosen educational field?
Also, mom tapes CSI regularly, so if I'm around, I'll usually watch that, too.
