Suuuure it's still a month away, but I'm excited and don't wanna study.
Someone mentioned at the last event that he and some buddys are gonna be camping the wii on it's release date, and my first thought was "That sounds like fun!"
You don't have to be buying one (I won't be, stupid people expecting payment for such things), and I haven't a clue what's actually going on with this, but if anyone is interested (and especially if someone's buying one) post here!
...Did I mention I don't wanna study?

My girlfriend's got one pre-ordered (I'm assuming from EB, but I'm not sure), so it's entirely likely. It is a Sunday, though, and I usually work, so we'll have to see.

myself and a friend camped outside furtureshop last year in november for the launch of the x360, it was absolutely hilarious, we had the local cops talking to us while we played halo multiplayer on the doorstep (a quick stop at canadian tire got us hooked up with some ac/dc converters with outlets on the ends) about 3 am there were like 40 people there and one guy with an escalade (recent engineering grad working for diamond fields research) he had the back opened and the crazy techno blasting across the parking lot while a coupla guys played touch football in the parking lot and another guy was there with a giant piece of cardboard breakdancing in front of the door. Yes this was a great nite but nothing beat the fact that at 6am the manager came out and gave us all vouchers for the 360s when the store opened (so we could head back to the car and get some sleep), this was great because of the crazy parents of small children who showed up at 8:30 thinking that they were in front of the line (and being generally pretty damn ignorant) until the doors opened and the futureshop security pushed then back and ushered us inside to the mountain of white and green gaming goodness. (one guy had his twin brother camp at the walmart just over from futureshop and they both got two consoles, which they sold two of to wealthy crazy parents for 1k each, people were literally throwing money at anyone willing to part with one). I've camped outside EB in the mall b4 back in the old days when Pete ,(id u know who this is your probably as hard core as anyone ) used to run the show on the weekends for the release of RUSH 2049, Grandia 2, tokyo extreme racer 2, MSR(Project Gotham 0) FFX(sorry no chance im spellin it out on a geek forum), its used to be ok back then but now mall security is horrible (hell my cousin and his lady used to take naps in one of the back corridors in the mall when they were waiting for a movie and couldn't get a ride, yes grut that means u). but seriously for the Wii launch its gotta be futureshop, picture a game of ultimate frisbee in the parking lot while others wifi their DS's it'll be marvelous i say marvelous, plus if i can scrounge the change with some others i m thinking of renting a uhaul with rear outlets and a generator so this year i can succeed where i failed last year (damn HDTV sucks more juice than my PC playin FEAR, dats wetarded, but hey i replaced my friends car battery so its ok right?)

My friend was (one of?) the first in line on Monday morning to pre-order a Wii (and Twilight Princess) at EB on Kelsey Drive. There was (apparently) one guy ahead of him and he was pre-ordering a PS3.
Apparently, the Wii will be available on Sunday, Nov 19th when they open. As he put it, "as long they get at least one, then he'll get his Wii that morning". (but the pre-orders are actually held for 48 hours)

I'm definately camping out the Wii. With all likelihood, I think this may be happening with Scottomax because we're crazy that way

Hey Grut, do you still work at futureshop? if so, could you keep track of the people camping the Wii for me, so I know I can show up in time to get in line? >_> Just checked eBay, and although the Wii isn't going for nearly as much as the PS3, it's still going for a huge profit, so I expect scalpers to try and jump the gun again.

Alright, so, long story short, Amanda's pre-order wasn't really a pre-order. So. It looks like a night of camping for mii. Just got off work, coming home to get supplies, then leaving to camp, probably Wal-Mart (there's 5 or so people in front of Kelsey Drive, but I haven't checked Pearlgate yet). Apparently, Toys 'R' Us are supposed to get a shit ton in comparison to anywhere else (somewhat between 100 and 200, possibly), but they don't open 'til noon, and I'm working at 1. However, if Wal-Mart falls through, I may just stroll into TUS on my way to work at noon and see what I can get. Hopefully, by tomorrow night, I'll be playing with my Wii. Wish me luck!

Got my Wii!! After waiting in line at Futureshop since 8 PM last night (thus getting the number 1 spot in line), a nice few people showed up. It was actually quite the time, and we took quite a number of pictures in the meantime that I'm going to post later. We ended up making a list fairly early on to designate the order that people showed up in so we wouldn't be standing in the actual line all night and so people wouldn't be shanking each other 5 minutes before tickets were given out in the hopes of getting one. I ended up getting a Wii (duh), and extra wii-mote, nunchuk, Twilight Princess and Red Steel. I now must track down Trauma Center >_> Anyway, more details will soon follow

So... very... tired...
Yeah, camping Saturday night was fun. Things were tidy for most of the night, with tickets for all 22 of us hardcore campers and much rejoicing. Goddamn parents in the morning (the last 10-15 to arrive and get tickets) tried to rush the doors while the rest of us tried to form a line, resulting in mayhem. Luckily, I got away with my Wii (tentatively named Lindbergh), Twilight Princess, and three more Wii-motes (I opted to wait on more Nunchuks).
By the way. WiiSports Tennis with four players? Quite possibly my favourite party game ever. So hilarious, especially if you make everyone's Mii as close to their actual appearance as possible.
I'll be sure to bring Lindbergh to the next gaming event I can attend.

Ugh!!! I agree with the parents bit. All the parents tried to show up 5 minutes before store opening in their minivans and SUVs, trying to cut in line and screw over all of us who had been waiting for 13 hours. Luckily, we told the futureshop people about the list before they closed the night before, so they took the liberty of telling the parents to **** off for us.

Luckily, not all of the parents were bad. The #7 spot (right after me) Saturday night was a woman and her son who showed up shortly after myself. The kid's Wii was a Christmas gift, but his mom wanted to make absolutely sure she got one, and they were from out of town. Nice folks. After the tickets were given out, they went and napped in their van.
Poor kid, though: not only does he have to wait a month and a half to break out his Wii (and Red Steel, and his Wii Points card, etc.), but he had two hockey games to play Sunday, at noon and 4. On the other hand, I think he had a good bit of fun that night, too.
Speaking of which, I wasn't able to go home and sleep myself. Napping makes things worse when I'm exhausted, so I couldn't sleep when I got home at 8, since I had to work 1-5. I was hoping to go home after class and play some Twilight Princess, but I might just have to collapse when I get home. I'm totally zonked.
