You can edit comments if you make an error I've never actually played the psp, mostly because I've yet to see a game for it that really appealed to me. I also think the movie thing is kinda dumb, but perhaps if I actually tried I'd think different.

k just to get this out of the way (b4 grut tries to take pot shots at this comment), I have as most in the society know had the use of almost every game/entertainment system in existence and after i think about it my PSP is easily the most versatile of the lot of them. You can mod an x-box (the first one) and turn it into a retro gamers heaven (yes even better than a Pentium 2 with dual voodoo 2 3DFX cards) but theres a reason me and the rest of my crew of friends lovinly refer to it as the big black brick ( you could easily kill a tauren warrior with it if it was an available weapon in WOW), thats the beauty of its portability. Now here comes the part that causes the endless peeing contests between nintendo and sony fanboys the world over, YES the PSP is vastly superior to the nintendo DS ( in processing power and graphics), now superior in this context doesn't refer to a more enjoyable gaming experience, it just means that it is capable of doing many more tasks than the DS ( the DS is a gaming system only much like the SNES was and like its ancestor it does the job to distinction) but as the above mentioned pentium 2, voodoo solution was vastly superior to the SNES on its way out and the N64 throughout its life span they are two very different pieces of hardware with two very different missions.
P.S. I was hooked on the PSP the day i me and my co-workers found out that we could sit behind the counter at work (the kenmount esso station) and download screen savers from page3.com while listening to johny cash destroy a NIN song, then jump into a rousing multiplayer game of need for speed underground rivals with our co-worker who lives 600m from the store, all with no more than a half dozen key strikes. oh and yes i LOVE my PSP (but not quite as much as the guys i work with at the esso, first time i ever saw someone go front to back in a gradius game was at work, now thats a job.

I've been contemplating getting one. The games for it thus far have been lackluster, which has been keeping me away, (despite all the amazing other stuff it can do. I have to agree with Scottomax's post) however Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops is coming out... It's basically MGS3-2, and explains how Big Boss went insane. Must have
