OMG, Matt is making an update, WTF?!
Once again, sorry about the lack of new information on the campaign, guys; seems that working 'til midnight weekdays really drains the life out of you while you adapt, so I haven't been budgeting my time particularly well over the last week-point-five.
I'm putting my foot down with myself now, however. Therefore, I hereby announce/suggest our first D&D campaign session for:
Date: Saturday, January the 20th Time: 12:00 p.m. Place: 38 Diana Road, St. John's (Sorry, shylo!)
I add "suggest" because I'm not 100% positive of everyone's availability this term. Many of you have indicated that Saturday is alright for fighting, but in my effort to include everyone who originally expressed an interest, I fear I've become somewhat wishy-washy. I'm aiming for a noon-ish time to begin, but I want anyone with time conflicts to contact me (by post or email) immediately so I can adjust as necessary. I'd also like to suggest that, for anyone working that Saturday, to see if they can get it switched just this once. If not, as mentioned above, contact me immediately. I can't afford to make last-minute changes, so I'm going to have to ask that any concerns be directed to me by midnight Monday at the latest, to avoid screwing anyone over.
If wild Large warhorses end up keeping you from coming out next Saturday, don't despair! I can easily toss your character into the fray at a later session.
Some personal notes: - some of you still have character backgrounds to send me. If you could do that before Saturday, I'd appreciate it. - hiko, I think you mentioned you'd like to take a fighter? If so, we can easily sit down for half an hour before we start next week and put him/her together. Just worry about the background for now. If you wanted to play something else, send me an email and let me know, and we'll work it out.
Now, for next Saturday, the bare bones everyone will want is a set of dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20), a pencil or two, eraser, and your character sheet. It'd also be nice for everyone to have a PHB, but don't fret too much if you don't. If everyone could actually put together an extra character sheet, I'd appreciate it, as I'd like to have one on hand for myself for record keeping.
Here's something I always enjoy doing when I've got a little extra cash and am just beginning a new campaign. If you get a chance, head downtown to Sword & Steele on Duckworth and see if you can find a miniature that matches your character's description (physical, not necessarily class/race). For example, someone playing a half-elf druid might find an elven ranger wearing a very druid-ish cloak. They're usually only a couple of bucks, so you won't break the bank. It's not required, as I've got plenty of minis for everyone.
Thanks for your patience, folks, and I'll (hopefully) see you next week!
EDIT: Just wanted to mention again that I do have wireless hooked up at the apartment, so you can bring your laptop if you'd find it useful. Also, we'll be here for at least 2 hours and at most 5 or 6 (depending on when everyone feels like ending it for the day), so you may want to bring some snacks with you. I'll see what I can provide.

Just a couple of last-minute updates regarding today's D&D session. 1) Don't forget your extra filled-out character sheet for me. If you're reading this and it's too late to make a second one, that's fine, I'll just transcribe it before we start. 2) Here's a MapQuest link to getting to my house. Anyone living at MUN, Route 6 is probably your best bet. Drivers, I shovelled the driveway the other day, so there is some parking available. 3) We'll probably be finishing up shortly after 4. Alright, see you guys soon! EDIT: If anyone needs to get ahold of me, my number is 754-1734. Also, you could leave a message on MSN for me (my email is in my profile). SECOND EDIT: Shit, forgot. Come to the front door. There's two doors inside the front porch. You can just come on up the right-hand door, or, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, ring the right-hand doorbell outside.

Thanks to Mike, Jenn, Adam, and Leslie for showing up to our first session on Saturday. Despite my shaky first try at DMing and somewhat of a lack of resources, I thought it went quite well, as far as introductions go. Here's some of what I'm hoping to have for next session: - good counters (dice just don't cut it for me) - a decent encounter grid mat - a better organized living room - snacks For those of you who gave me an extra copy of their character sheet, I've got your characters transcribed onto a 3EProfiler Character Sheet hosted at Myth Weavers. You can view these character sheets without joining, but if you want to edit/create your own, you need to join. Luckily, it's free! Altaira, elven ranger Vince Malum, human wizard Kellen Steiner, human cleric For a couple of you, I made some minor fixes (corrected AC, attack bonus, etc.) I've got a couple of housekeeping details regarding your character sheets, but I'll let each of you know via email what changes/additions I need you to make. Leslie, don't forget your extra character sheet for next time! Speaking of which, I was thinking we could next meet Saturday, February 10th. I'd like to take the next few weeks to work out the majority of the storyline, and it'd also allow me more than enough time to pull together the rest of the resources that I wanted. From that point on, we'd be meeting on a weekly basis. Cool with everyone? Let me know! EDIT: I almost forgot. Anyone who was previously signed up to play and still wants in, fire me off an email. I'd need to make plot decision regarding new characters if that's the case.

I'd love to get in on this, maybe. Is it too much of a problem? Tell me what you need, character-wise, and I'll roll one. Have my dice ready to go! I may not be very good, though, so please bear with me. I'll get the hang of it eventually.

We're all pretty new to this. If you already know how to roll your characters you're ahead of the game!

Well, right now, we've had a single session. Our party consists of a human cleric, human wizard, half-elf druid, and elf ranger. Next session, assuming both Josh and Blaine show up, we'll be adding a human ranger and probably a fighter. We've got lots of magic, but it looks like only one dedicated combatant, so I'd probably recommend filling out the party with either another fighter or (my personal preference) a barbarian. As I mentioned in another post, we're only playing basic races (PHB and MM) and basic classes (PHB, potentially DMG's prestige classes later).
Adding Nick into the equation puts us at a running total of 7 party members, so we'll be pretty much filled up with that addition.
Josh, Blaine, and Nick can disregard the "Why are you in jail?" backstory component, since we've already played that out. I'll work out the details of your characters becoming involved during the next session.
EDIT: As I mentioned earlier, anyone who has not already given me an extra character sheet (Leslie, Blaine, Josh, and Nick), please bring one to the next session.

hi, I still want to play, I just need to book the day off. I didn't see the date for the last one early enough to book that day off.

I would like to mention that my Cleric (Kellen) is decent at frontlining. Pretty good AC, weapon damage and trip attacks - the downside is only 9 HP but he can also heal (I always have 2 cure light wounds prepared each day).

I'd like to play D&D sometime; but I can't unless it's after 6 on Saturdays, because that's the only time i'd have a ride. And even then it'd only be if a friend of mine wants to come along as well. Living in CBS and getting rides to town is rough, espically with over-protective parent figures.
