Yes! I'm also excited for FFIII coming out for the DS I've always been a fan of FF, even tho I havn't been able to play much of it due to a lack of systems.

I want to try it. I couldn't get into X but IX was a good game. While we're on the subject, FFV advance for GBA is out on 11.06.2006. The next month or so is a big time of FF

Im in the same boat . Also, wont FFVII be on the DS soon? As far as I know, there are no plans to remake FFVII for the DS, but there are plenty of rumors regarding a remake for the PS3 (which, Square has replied with a "we have not announced any plans for such a project").

FFVII will never be on the DS due to the same reason it went to the PSX in the beginning, not nearly enough storage space on the cartridges (DS carts. r based of SD chips) which while being available in 4GB and 8GB sizes which while being large enough for FFVII movies and all to fit on would cost a ridiculous amount, as well the big N's current arrangement with SD doesn't include those storage capacity sizes so it would require a new legal deal to come about. (the source of most of this was a technical article on either anandtech.com or hardocp.com about a year and a half ago). However there is a serious possibility of if not a slightly tweaked remake for the PSP then at least a downloadable version that is backward compatable (with added antialiasing to smooth the jaggies and the possibility of the computer versions much higher polygon counts).

For anyone interested in a PS3 remake of FFVII videogames.com was doing a collection thread for awhile regarding the whole compilation of FFVII thing and it includes the exact wording of every up to date SquareEnix press release on the matter.

Since my most recent system is PSOne, I have FFVII, VIII, IX and Tactics. I played 1, 2, and 3 when I was younger and had a working NES / SNES respectively, and have played a translation of one of the Japanese games on my computer... BTW, is anyone else as big a fan of emulators as I am? I don't emulate cutting edge games, but they are great for old NES/SNES games I couldn't afford at the time, and couldn't find now.

and to finish that thought, I can't afford a PS2, so I haven't played X or XI, and don't expect to anytime soon, so although I'm pleased there might be another classic game out there to play, It would be a while before I could ever play

I played it for a month over the summer. It get's dull quickly, if you ask me. You're better off playing WoW. But, X was awesome (loved the characters and the battle system), and X-2 was fun, but I found the story lacking and Yuna's Voice Actress even more annoying (maybe because she had more lines this time...). You should try and see if you can buy a PS2 when the PS3 is released, since there should be a price drop around that time (or, all of the Used game stores will be trying to flush all of their Used PS2s out of their stores).

I never liked the FF series. I might like the new MMORPG ones, but this whole... I'll hit you and then I'll let you hit me back, and then I'll hit you back... turn-based stuff... well thats crap.

It's very nice for the SNWS games, as the Dualshock controller is alot like the SNES controller. It costs about $17 at the Source (or Radioshack, when I bought it last year). Also, I think you can buy a 360 controller (wired, I think) and use it on your computer (I haven't tried this myself, though).

if your not too into the traditional turn based setup of the FF games then don't fret the battle system in FFXII is much more akin to the likes of oh say KOTOR (or any of the recent bioware RPG's say Neverwinter, Jade empire, etc..). From the demo i got with Dragon Quest VIII it appears to be a fair departure from the older titles but I have to admit it is probably more enjoyable to play because after u get the hang of it the new battle system really draws u in to it.
